Two Tamil Nadu highways engineers were suspended after a newly installed signboard on State Highway-93 near Thoothukudi carried place names in Hindi, in violation of the state's two-language policy. The action followed public criticism from DMK president M.K. Stalin, who accused the TVK government of softening on Hindi imposition; the board was replaced with a Tamil-English one within a day.
