TVK takes the Karur stampede to the Supreme Court: plea challenges High Court SIT, seeks judge-led independent probe
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Madras High Court's October 3 order constituting a state-police Special Investigation Team into the September 27 Karur stampede that killed 41 people. Filed through party secretary Aadhav Arjuna, the plea seeks an independent probe led by a former Supreme Court judge, alleges a possible 'pre-planned conspiracy' by miscreants, and objects to the High Court's scathing remarks that the party 'abandoned' the victims. The matter is listed for hearing on October 10.
